Trip to iExperience!

Today we went out of school. Went to Esplanade exchange to this place call iExperience. It's a place by IDA. All the displays there are all fully funded by companies like Samsung, Singtel and SecureAge.

The whole centre is more on Next Gen NBN (Next Gen Broadband) which is commonly know as Fibre Optic. Since it's more on Next Gen NBN, the staff there are more knowledgeable in Next Gen NBN rather than cloud computing. But at least, they've answered to most of our questions which is good enough.

This picture up here is a interactive table. If my memory didn't fail me, it can take up to 32 touches. Yeah, and Cresent Girl's School is actually using this now! So cool! Oh and i heard from the guide, it is pretty expensive to get one. Being expensive means that not all schools could afford it and not all students will be able to experience this. :(

This up here is a Internet TV. As the name describes it, yes, it is connected to INTERNET! And you can like watch youtube videos on it. A want to have by me, imagine watching dramas that are only found on youtube on this big screen rather than the 14" small laptop screen. But it is pretty expensive for one. Since it is expensive, not all families could afford for one. Even my family couldn't.

This up here is actually the layout of how getting fibre optic installed in your house and subscribing it. To install the cables, cost a few hundred dollars. Pretty expensive to do so, but for faster surfing internet speed, should be worth the price. With this Next Gen NBN, downloading videos are like super fast! And you don't need to open several tabs just to load different parts of your drama. That's what i like about having fibre optic broadband. As i said, installing the cables are pretty expensive. This means that not all families could afford for it. However, Next Gen NBN might get even more popular to the public and the demands for this will be higher, so the price of installing the cables might drop in a few years time. Just be a little bit patient and you'll be able to install the cables at a cheaper price.

With Next Gen NBN, video conferencing will be much more high quality due to the internet. With video conference, you can just video conference with your family when you are away to maybe have dinner with them or chat with them. You can also use video conferencing for meetings and seeing a doctor.
Seeing a doctor via video conferencing will be very convenient for us, especially when we just have the normal flu or cough. And it is very useful for the elderly that needs to go for checkups frequently.

Our group had to do a research on cloud computing. So we went to bombard the guide with questions related to cloud computing. However he was only able to answer some of the questions as he isn't from the cloud computing department. But he still tried to answer most of them briefly, enough for us to understand what cloud computing does.

In conclusion, this trip was worthwhile as I've learn many things regarding the Next Gen NBN. How does it really works and all the latest technology gadgets and services that requires the use of the Next Gen NBN.

Sorry for the late post. :)
